Vietnam, Quang Nam
Working in four communities, the Quang Nam community development project, is focused on improving life for disadvantaged children and improving health levels in these diverse but much needy areas. Your support will provide essentials such as fresh water, and improved sanitation, things we can take for granted, but will make a profound difference in the lives of many people. With access to clean water, there will be less incidence of water-borne disease, enabling families to enjoy better health and productivity. The Quang Nam project has a holistic approach to the poverty experienced in this province, through vocational training, nutrition awareness and breeding livestock.
Vietnam, Danang

The project will enable children to attend school, and help their families to become self-sufficient by providing livestock and helping them to set up small businesses. Households will be assisted to build septic toilets, dig wells, and improve the health of their families through nutrition programs. Your support of this project, enables families earning just $436 per year, a chance to break free from the poverty impacts every area of their lives.

Madagascar – Project Madagascar
Madagascar, an island off the coast of Africa, is a country with great beauty, but much need. It has a startling 70% of the population below the poverty line and one of the highest infantile death rates. Adding to its woes, there are increasing levels of child and female prostitution and alarming rates of abandoned, orphaned and street children. There is a great need for education with only half of the population having access to schooling, and only 6 out of 100 children finishing secondary school.
Project Madagascar is designed to address all of these issues, predominately through education, vocational training and health initiatives in order to release the potential of this nation, and turn around the dire economic trends.
Please consider partnering with us today, your donations are tax deductible and will make a big difference in the lives of many children.

Sri Lanka – Helpkids
Helpkids began in 2005, founded by Narel and Allison who have a vision to see all Sri Lankan children enjoying a safe and happy childhood, free from violence and abuse.
The program teaches parents how to care for their babies and children, and provides Montessori and catch-up education for street children, and those from poor families who have missed joining school.
Specifically, the project will provide Montessori education for 75 children, and catch-up education to 150 children who have missed school, so they can enter the school system and receive an education.
Vocational skills in mechanics, carpentry, needlework and tailoring will give teenagers and parents a livelihood, so they can provide for their families. While counselling for 150 children will help them to be healed of the abuse which they have suffered, so they can grow into happy and productive adults.

India – Helping Hands
The Kathputhli slum although compact, is home to more than 10,000 people dwelling in ramshackle houses, with open sewerage and siphoned electricity. The conditions of the slum have led to sickness and disease, poor hygiene, malnutrition, and social problems such as depression, violence and alcoholism. Many relocated to Jaipur from villages in search of a better life, but their optimism has given way to hopelessness as they realize that living in this slum is their reality. It is important to help these families, as with just 30% of children attending school, the slum will be the reality for most of their children as well.
This project started with only 32 children and now provides a primary school education for over 250 children as well as regular medical care, uniforms and shoes and a daily nutrition based meal. Helping Hands also serves the community through adult literacy classes, skills training and access to self help groups which assist with savings / small loans, assisting families to access work opportunities and better support their families. A Health Clinic within the slum provides education in health, hygiene, and infant care to combat the high levels of illness and disease throughout the slum colony. Helping Hands is making a positive contribution within Jaipur, and is aiming to see the poverty cycle broken and the community become self sustainable.

Andaman Islands – Calvary Children’s Home
AOGWR have sponsored children at Calvary Children’s Home in the Andaman Islands for a number of years. While all our children and staff survived the Boxing Day Tsunami, many facilities around the Home were destroyed and many extra children were added to the program.
As part of a wider intervention within this community, this program seeks to empower children to become productive and valued members of their community. Vocational training in brick making, spice manufacturing, animal husbandry and computer training will help to develop alternative livelihoods for adolescents and marginalised people. Access to water will be improved through the provision of water wells, making the task of collecting water easier and requiring less time.
