Take a look at the world today and one cannot help but feel overwhelmed by the desperate and disparate state of global affairs. Pain and poverty are deeply entrenched. HIV/AIDS and starvation reaps a huge death toll. Yet, many in the West feel immobilised by the enormity of the tragedies around us.
God’s call is to all of His people to respond to the needs of the poor and poverty stricken; a theme that runs entirely through Scripture. Historical efforts have centred on a charity and welfare model. Whilst compassionate, this has often done little to alleviate injustice.
The plight of the poor and the ever widening global gap between rich and poor now calls for a more creative and contemporary response. ACC World Relief is a vehicle to make that response.
ACCWR exists to:
care for the needy
ACCWR enables churches and community groups in Australia to show Christian love and care to needy people in developing nations and especially to isolated people groups; and to demonstrate the love of God through humanitarian aid and community development initiatives.
provide humanitarian aid and community development
ACCWR provides humanitarian aid and community development initiatives to relieve the poverty, suffering, distress, and misfortune of needy persons regardless of age, sex, race, ethnic background, religion, political beliefs or marital status.
benefit whole communities
Further to this, we assist through overseas development projects which benefit communities as a whole, incorporating indigenous partnerships and provide basic support of people in emergency situations caused by natural phenomenon or chronic disaster.
